This cover prevents fluting pliers from damaging the web of a rib. Accidently damaging the web while fluting can dramatically change the fit of the rib to skin. This cover is modeled to fit the end of the standard MFR Model# 04-1220 Fluting Plier. There are more expensive non mar fluting pliers but this solution works even better. The tip is superglued to the pliers for a permanent upgrade to the tool.
Expensive -- duct tape is a lot cheaper. Works well. Seems fairly durable. Reduces scratches from the bucking bar. Helps keep the bucking bar on the rivet.
My first trimming rig, purchased after a friend helped trim my glider with the same setup. I was very impressed with the size of it, and how smoothly the riser carriage slides on the rail. Bought one and have used it several times while traveling. I got 2 lightweight clamps to attach it; 3 would probably be better but it’s been stable enough with 2. Jason has been very responsive to a few questions I’ve had. Great value and purchase; would highly recommend!
Works super smooth. No detectable drag in the tensioning system. If you hang 5 kg, you’ll get exactly 5kg of tension. Great price for what you get. I have a 3D printer, but designing the base and gathering and assembling all the parts wouldn't be much more economical than just buying this one ready-to-go. The piece that attaches to the laser to hold the glider end of the line doesn’t fit very well on a Leica Disto D2. Can’t complain about that as it was advertised for a Disto D1. If you’re using this with a D2, I designed a snap on solution for the D2 and published in Thingiverse, just search for Paraglider Leica D2.
I have the WORKS kit. Didn't realize until I printed it. I'm and idiot. Kudos to you for putting it out there. Even the ones on Flyleds website are too thin.
